University of Colorado School of Law Dean David Getches will retire in June 2011, he announced last week. He plans to return to teaching.
Getches joined the faculty in 1979 and has been dean since 2003. He told The National Law Journal that he wanted to step down before he tired of the job.
“I still like the job very much, but in terms of the institution, it’s an excellent time to look for a new dean,” Getches told the Journal.
During his time as dean, the law school added three LL.M. programs, three clinics and the endowed Experential Learning Program, which combines clinics, externships and trial competitions.
