A Law Society of Ireland team won the 13th Annual International Environmental Moot Court Competition at Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Fla.
Teams from Brazil, China, India, Ireland, Nepal, Ukraine and the United States competed in the international finals. The Irish team bested the U.S. team from the University of California-Hastings College of Law to earn the title of champion.
Other awards include the Spirit of Stetson Award for outstanding advocacy, won by the Indonesian team; and, the Best Memorial, awarded to the John Marshall Law School in Chicago.
The competition coincided with the International Wildlife Law Conference. Judges at this year’s competition were Wil Burns, editor-in-chief of the Journal of International Wildlife and Policy, Johannes Huber, executive secretary of the Anarctic Treaty, and Andy Pearl, the manager of the Antarctic Krill Conservation Project for The Pew Charitable Trusts.
