NALP names Marcelyn Cox as new president

Marcelyn R. Cox, Assistant Dean of Career Development at Miami Law, is the newest President of the National Association for Law Placement (NALP) after her recent appointment in the end of April.

Cox’s past experience with NALP includes service as Treasurer, Southeast Regional Director, Chair of the Diversity Section, Nominating Committee, Awards of Distinction Committee, Audit Committee, and Investment Oversight Committee, and a variety of other committees and work groups. Cox has also been a speaker at NALP conferences.

A graduate of UC Berkeley School of Law, Cox also has a B.A. from the University of Southern California and an M.F.A. from University of Miami School of Communication. Cox worked as a practicing attorney before moving to Miami Law in 1997.

Cox’s responsibilities as NALP president from 2011-2012 will include heading the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, as well as representing the association as a liaison to other law-related organizations.
