Basic Information

Located in downtown San Diego, Thomas Jefferson School of Law’s modern look has earned it accolades as one of most impressive law school buildings in the world, including an A- from preLaw magazine.

Dean Thomas Guernsey said the school’s unique offerings set it apart more than its aesthetics.

“At Thomas Jefferson School of Law, we believe strongly in providing opportunity for a diverse group of students to succeed in law school and beyond,” Guernsey said. “TJSL students are part of a supportive, highly diverse, technologically-advanced campus with an intellectually stimulating curriculum and innovative academic success program.”

The school is committed to experiential learning, Guernsey said, with externship programs that consistently rank in the top 20 in the nation. Students can also work in live-client clinics, which are designed to serve the community’s small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Upon graduation, new lawyers can get career help from the Center for Solo Practitioners as they open their own law offices. The center connects graduates to populations that need legal services. Located in downtown
