Located on the south end of the university’s main campus in Champaign, the College of Law hosts a full complement of J.D., LL.M. and J.S.D. degrees, as well as 10 unique specialty programs. For those not seeking a J.D., the college also offers a Master of Studies in Law. The National Jurist has named it a top innovative law school.
“It is located in a beautiful college-town setting, free of distractions, but also only two hours from downtown Chicago, a world-class legal market where the College is developing exciting programs for upper-division law students,” said Dean Vikram D. Amar.
The school runs the semester-long Chicago Program for interested third years. It has one of the largest law libraries in the state and has added several new faculty members in recent years. More than 40 percent of its students participate in externships, and graduates have achieved one of the highest bar passage rates in the area.
“The University of Illinois College of Law is unique in the combination of attractive features it offers,” said Amar. “It has a highly productive and influential faculty who are integrated in a premier research university that is a global leader in many of the fields that will be increasingly important to law. For those interested in a obtaining a broadly grounded foundation in law and related disciplines, as well as experience in and access to a dynamic and sophisticated legal market, Illinois Law offers the best of both worlds.”
Most notably, the school has a tuition guarantee program, freezing tuition rates for students based on their incoming class year.
