Located in the heart of Detroit, Wayne State University Law School is the most affordable school in Michigan, and the only Best Value school in the state. (See story on page 24). Full-time tuition is $29,066 for residents and part-time tuition is even less expensive than similar programs at other schools.

Its students record the third lowest indebtedness in the region, at $85,925. It also boasts the second best bar passage rate in Michigan, with 71.43 percent, trailing only University of Michigan.

Its concentrations reflect the needs of the community, with offerings in civil rights and entrepreneurship.

Dean Jocelyn Benson believes the school’s focus on experiential learning creates graduates ready to practice law.

“It’s important to us that all students at Wayne Law have the opportunity to actually practice and experience the law before they graduate, and we are continually expanding our hands-on learning to bridge the gap between theory and practice,” Benson said.

The school received a B for practical training from preLaw magazine in the Spring 2014 issue.
