Duncan back in court; Villanova gets $5m for sports center

Sports law, after San Diego Padres owner Jeffrey Moorad, gave $5 million to his alma mater, Villanova University Law School, to create a center for the study of sports law. Moorad, who graduated in 1981, worked as a sports agent from 1983 to 2004. It is the largest gift in the history of the law school. 

A BAD Week for … 

Patience, after Lincoln Memorial University’s Duncan School of Law asked a Federal judge to reconsider an injunction against the ABA that he had denied just three weeks prior. Duncan sued the ABA for denying it provisional accreditation. The judge said the school must first go through the ABA’s administrative appeals process. However, Duncan has lost eight students and is worried the denial will lead to a dearth of applicants. It claims the appeal process is futile, as the ABA has already decided the matter.
