Banking, Health Care, Energy and Intellectual Property are “Red Hot” right now, according to the Robert Denney Associates Annual Market Report on the legal profession.

Also predicted to remain hot in 2012: White Collar Crime, Regulatory work, Financial Services, Cyber Crime, Labor & Employment law, and Immigration. Commercial Real Estate is also starting to get hot. Investors are buying individual loans and real estate owned (REO) properties taken back by the lender after a foreclosure, the report said.

Washington D.C. and Texas, in particular Houston (see my recent blog, Dallas tops Buying Power Study, to read more about how well Texas is doing), are the hot geographic markets in the U.S. now, according to Denney. Brazil, Russia, India and China are the countries that are looked at by global firms as major growth opportunities, according to the report.

This is the 23rd year that Robert Denney Associates has issued the “What’s Hot and What’s Not in the Legal Profession” report. For more information, see www.robertdenney.com.
