$1 million gift expands pathways to law for first responders at Boyd Law

GGRM Law Firm has pledged $1 million to create a new scholarship at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, William S. Boyd School of Law supporting first responders who are transitioning into legal careers.

The scholarship, set to debut in the 2026–27 academic year, will provide financial assistance for tuition and related expenses. Eligible applicants include current and former law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics, EMTs and emergency dispatchers.

“First responders bring real-world experience, empathy and leadership to the classroom,” said Leah Chan Grinvald, dean of Boyd Law. “This program will enrich the classroom and the legal community. We are grateful to GGRM for their philanthropic leadership.”

Founded in 1970, GGRM Law Firm has a long-standing commitment to pro bono work, including providing free legal clinics and supporting access to justice initiatives. The firm views this endowment as part of a broader effort to promote non-traditional pathways into the legal profession and strengthen the diversity of experience within the legal community.
