The Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) applauded President Barack Obama’s nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court. Sotomayor is the first Hispanic woman to receive this honor.
“First and foremost, Sotomayor is an outstanding and highly qualified jurist whose personal journey is an inspiration to all Americans,” said Veta Richardson, MCCA’s executive director.
Richardson believes that the nomination makes the statement that “if you are smart, focus on your education and work hard, you can achieve the highest levels of leadership.”
The MCCA refused the recent allegations that Sotomayor’s nomination was based on “identity politics” rather than her range of achievements.
