Fordham names interim law dean

Long-time Fordham University faculty member Michael Martin has been name interim dean of the law school. He replaces William Treanor, who is taking the job of executive vice president and dean of the Georgetown University Law Center.

Martin has been at Fordham since 1972. He served as associate dean from 1995 to 2001 and twice since has filled the post of associate dean for administration. In 2005, he was named the school’s teacher of the year.

In the fall, the university will begin a national search for the dean’s position, the first step of which, choosing a search committee, will take place over the next month. Martin is not a candidate for the permanent position.
