The University of Richmond School of Law named Wendy Collins Perdue as dean, effective July 1.
Perdue, an associate dean and professor of law at Georgetown University Law Center, succeeds John G. Douglass, Richmond law dean since 2008.
Perdue, who has been at Georgetown since 1982, graduated from Duke Law School and clerked for Anthony M. Kennedy, then a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals judge and now associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
Douglass announced last year that he was stepping down to return to teaching in the law school.
