Law firms get poor grades for transparency

Law firms get a D- for transparency in decision-making, according to a recent report by Vault.

Vault recently surveyed 16,000 associates at 350 law firms for its annual survey, and for the first time asked about transparency.

Repsondents rated their firms for “Individual partners generally treat associates with respect, and The firm’s leadership is transparent in its decision making.”

The average score was 6.04, compared to 7.29 for satisfaction, 8.39 for treatment by individual partners, and 8.42 for overall business outlook.

Vault looked at the correlation between transparency and associate satisfaction and found a strong connection — associates are more satisfied at firms with better transparency.
