APPEASING CRITICS, after the Wall Street Journal reported that a congressional staff member said U.S. Senators are “strongly considering” hearings over law school employment data, despite recent efforts by the ABA to show it is responding to critics. At issue is whether law schools have misled students with misleading employment data. Senators Barbara Boxer (D., Calif.), Charles Grassley (R., Iowa) and Tom Coburn (R., Okla.) have sent out six letters on the issue. The ABA has responded that it is ramping up its data collection efforts, and will publish more data.

EXPERIENTIAL TRAINING, after Indiana Tech announced that its future law school will be led by Peter Alexander, currently a professor at Southern Illinois University School of Law, and a graduate of Northeastern University’s law school, which requires all students to work in externships while in school. Indiana Tech plans to open the school in fall 2013 with a strong focus on practical skills.
