Stanford dean leaves on top; LaVerne accredited again

It was a GOOD week for …

Going out on top, after Stanford Law School dean Larry Kramer announced he was stepping down in September to take over the Hewlett Foundation. Stanford recently passed Harvard Law School as the second ranked school in U.S. News & World Report’s annual rankings. Kramer had overseen changes at the school which helped it improve its yield rate.

Second chances, after the ABA granted provisional approval to University of LaVerne College of Law for the second time. The Southern California school had lost provisional accreditation in the fall after it was unable to improve its bar pass rate to acceptable standards. It now has another five years to get full approval.
