Northeastern University School of Law sent out over 4,000 acceptance emails for the 2023-24 academic year this week. Seems a little early, right?
Well, it was a mistake. The acceptance letters were sent out to both former and current applicants due to a “technical error” according to a statement made by the school.
Some of the students who received the letter were already enrolled and had applied last year. The school has confirmed that about 200 of those emails were sent to current applicants, who were told to dismiss the acceptance email. All of the recipients of the letters received a clarification email the same day.

Lakisha Papoutsakis, a single mother who received the acceptance email, said in an interview with NBC10 Boston that she dreamed of going to law school since she was a child. She had told family and friends about the letter before noticing the clarification email.
The school has apologized for the mistake and is taking steps to prevent it from occurring again. Acceptance decisions will not be made until later in the school year, the school said.
