The University of Connecticut School of Law, in Hartford, is moving its 14 clinics into one building. The MacKenzie Hall, once briefly owned by the law school, is again under its ownership and will house the school’s 14 clinics.
UConn offers seven in-house legal clinics and seven clinics in conjunction with outside entities. The Connecticut Community Law Center will also make MacKenzie Hall its home.
Eboni Nelson, Dean of UConn School of Law, said the school is “extremely pleased with this opportunity to centralize [their] clinics, which are key to UConn Law’s mission of community engagement and essential to the practical training of [their] students. The additional space will be put to excellent use.”
The legal clinics focus on animal law, asylum, human rights criminal defense, and more.
Previous space constraints spread out the clinics across their campus. The school hopes that the centralized location will improve collaboration among the clinics.
