Elon University School of Law is ready to enroll its first students this fall to an in-person, part-time J.D. program at Elon University’s new campus in the city’s South End neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The American Bar Association shared its J.D. Flex Program decision with Elon Law last December. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges approved the Charlotte campus at the end of January.
The four-year Elon Law Flex Program in Charlotte will use the same doctrine that has earned Elon Law’s full-time, 2.5-year program in Greensboro national recognition for its approach to practical training.
Elon Law expects to enroll an initial cohort of at least 35 students with classes set to begin in August.
Students in the Flex Program will have the opportunity to take many of the same elective courses as those offered in Elon Law’s full-time Greensboro program, plus others customized to the Charlotte market such as banking law, health law, and sports and entertainment law.
“Elon Law’s presence in Charlotte allows us to deepen our relationship with a legal community that regularly welcomes our student residents, hosts our summer student interns and hires our graduates,” said Zak Kramer, dean of the law school. “About 10% of all Elon Law alumni live and work in the Charlotte region, and I’m excited to see the wonderful ways our law school will continue to make a difference in the lives of so many people.”
