AALS, West Academic launch multiyear partnership to provide AI guidance

The Association of American Law Schools (AALS) and West Academic, a BARBRI company, have announced a new multiyear strategic partnership aimed at expanding legal education’s engagement with artificial intelligence.

Unveiled during the 2026 AALS Annual Meeting last week, the collaboration will focus on three initiatives: a national webinar series for law school leaders and faculty, the development of online AI-related resources and joint research on faculty, student and administrator perspectives on AI.

“This collaboration combines resources of our two organizations to advance understanding of artificial intelligence and emerging technology,” said Kellye Testy, CEO and executive director of AALS. “By joining forces on content expertise, audience reach and a shared commitment to thought leadership in legal education, together we are providing the legal academy with a trusted and established source for guidance on AI.”

The webinars will feature law faculty and legal industry experts and address topics such as integrating AI into the curriculum, ethical and regulatory considerations, emerging tools and professional readiness. Additional online resources will highlight how law schools are adapting policies, pedagogy and planning in response to AI.

The partnership will also include research examining how AI is affecting teaching, learning and practice readiness across legal education, with the goal of identifying gaps and informing future policy and instruction.

AALS and West Academic have worked together for more than 75 years in support of legal education initiatives.
