The Hispanic National Bar Association recently honored the Campbell Hispanic Law School Association at Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, located in Raleigh, N.C., as its 2010 Law Student Organization of the Year.
Award winners are nominated by their peers and will be recognized in September at the HNBA annual convention in Minneapolis.
The group was recognized for its commitment to the Hispanic students at Campbell Law, bringing in relevant, high profile speakers to the school, and hosting events to raise funds for the Wake County Boys and Girls club as well as other causes important to the local Hispanic community.
“This is an extraordinary honor for our students,” said Dean Melissa Essary. “Each year our student organizations provide fellowship, friendship and support to each other, and they serve their communities with passion. This national recognition proves that it’s the work these groups do, not the size or the budget they have, that truly makes a difference in the lives of these students.”
Campbell Law’s minority students account for 10.6 percent of J.D. enrollment. Hispanic students account for 2.5 percent of that total.
