Protests and accusations followed the announcement that Donald Guter would be stepping down as dean of Duquesne University School of Law.
The ABA Journal reports that Guter, who served as dean since 2005, was given the choice of resigning or being removed from his position on account of University President Charles Doughtery’s claim that Guter had failed to meet performance expectations. Approximately 200 students responded with a demonstration in protest of the firing.
Some believe Guter was fired due to his involvement with liberal politics, such as participating in the Obama campaign, but Duquesne administration denies that the firing had any relation to politics.
