It was a GOOD week for making a point, after Lawrence Lessig, a Harvard law professor, announced he was running for President. Lessig, a Democrat, said he will be a “referendum president,” serving only until he wins passage of a campaign reform bill. He would then resign and his vice president would take over.
Lessig has previously announced he would run if he raised $1 million for the campaign. He raised that much through Kickstarter.
Lessig’s proposed campaign reform is quite extensive. It would end winner-take-all voiting in Congress, establish a national holiday for elections and institute automatic voter registration.
