The Mississippi College School of Law announced plans in May to complete a $7.5 million renovation to its campus in downtown Jackson.
The project marks the first major renovation at MC Law in 20 years and will include a plan to improve campus aesthetics and amenities.
The multi-phase project will be completed in collaboration with CDFL Architects + Engineers and Alliant Construction. The first two phases of the project will be completed during the 2024-2025 academic year, with future improvements coming.
“We’re excited to watch these changes unfold over the next few months,” said John Anderson, dean of MC Law. “Once complete, our updated campus will be a boon to our students and to downtown Jackson as a whole.”
Some aspects of the renovation are already taking shape. MC Law recently updated all exterior signage, highlighted by a new 10-foot tall, LED-backlit sign that transforms the downtown Jackson skyline.
Additional updates include a general campus facelift with new landscaping and signage, revamped library space, updated classrooms, technology integration throughout campus, more collaborative social spaces for students and faculty, an enhanced Student Center and improvements to the Advocacy Center.
Blake Thompson, president of Mississippi College, said the campus lies in the heart of the state’s legal community and the updated space will better serve current students and enhance admissions for future generations of MC law.
The Mississippi Bar, local bar associations, state courts, federal agencies, local law firms, non-profits and many Downtown Jackson businesses will all benefit from the renovations as they continue to make use of the law school’s amenities.
MC also looks forward to potential partnerships with the Farish Street district and other Downtown Jackson organizations in the future. The renovations will also benefit veterans and others in need through the many legal clinics providing access to justice on the MC Law campus.
A virtual tour of the project is available on the MC Law website.
