NJ Gov calls law student an idiot; fewer law students headed into politics

It was a BAD week for…

Speaking your mind, after a Rutgers-Camden law student was called an “idiot” by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, after a verbal altercation at a town hall meeting. William Brown, a former Navy SEAL and a second-year law student, interrupted Christie to complain about his school’s merger into Rowan University. Christie tried to explain his decision, only to be interrupted again by Brown. Finally, Christie lsot his temper and said, “And let me tell you something. If after you graduate from law school you conduct yourself like that in a courtroom, your rear end’s going to be thrown in jail, idiot.” Brown was removed from the meeting by police.

The future of politics, after 38 percent of pre-law students said they would consider running for political office, down from 54 percent in 2009, according to a Kaplan Test Prep survey. The numbers are still high for men — 51 percent — but have plummeted to 29 percent for women. Also, 30 percent said they think there are already too many lawyers involved in politics, while 54 percent said the number was about right.
