November jobs report proves disappointing

Despite optimistic predictions, the legal services sector lost 1,100 jobs in November according to the monthly employment report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Currently the number of legal jobs in the U.S. is 100 less than December 2009.

This month’s jobs report leaves the U.S. unemployment rate at 9.8 percent, despite an addition of 40,000 temporary help positions for the holiday season. Government jobs were hit the hardest, losing 11,000 employees while health care saw an increase of 19,000 jobs.

These numbers are in stark contrast to analyst predictions, which had projected about an increase of 150,000 jobs across the board.
