NY judge throws out class action suit; LSAT takers drops

It was a Bad Week for …

Unemployed law grads, after a New York judge threw out the class action lawsuit against New York Law School over misleading employment data. The judge wrote that “not every ailment afflicting society may be redressed by a lawsuit.” It was a big blow to a movement that still hopes to file suit against another 20 law schools.

It was a Good week for …

Getting into law school, after it was announced that the number of LSAT administrations dropped to 129,925, down from 155,050 a year ago. It has dropped by 25 percent over the last two years, making it far easier to get into law school. The reason for the drop is the perception that there are not enough jobs for all the law students, and law students graduate with high debt, making it a riskly proposition.
