The Ohio State University’s Morritz College of Law corporate law moot court team came head to head with the Mercer University’s Walter F.George School of Law team in the Ruby R. Vale Corporate Law Moot Court Competition in Wilmington, Del.
In a split decision, a panel of five judges awarded the championship to Ohio State. The team includes members Abby Andre, Barbara Schwabauer and Chris Montgomery, and is coached by professor Paul Rose.
The Mercer University team, coached by student Laura Hinson and professor Chris Wells, included Brittany Flowe, Jessica Morgan and Katie Willett. This was the fifth time in six years that Mercer University advanced to the final round of the competition.
The competition measured mastery of brief writing and oral advocacy. Widener Law School hosts the competition, which is now in its 21st year. The final round was judged by U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan of the Southern District of New York; Delaware Supreme Court Justices Jack B. Jacobs and Carolyn Berger; Delaware Court of Chancery Vice Chancellor Donald F. Parsons, Jr. and former Delaware Supreme Court Justice Joseph T. Walsh.
