Pierce Law and New Hampshire affiliation continues on course

Franklin Pierce Law Center Dean and President John D. Hutson has announced that the school’s affiliation with the University of New Hampshire is right on course.

“We have received an approval letter from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges [NEASC], one of the accrediting agencies that must sign off before the affiliation is finalized,” Hutson said.  “The American Bar Association Accreditation Committee has also recommended approval, and I will testify at the ABA hearing in San Francisco the first week in August for their final determination.”

In its letter NEASC noted, “We appreciate the benefits to Pierce Law and to the University of New Hampshire of the affiliation and potential merger, and we congratulate the parties on the successful negotiation of a careful process of moving forward. We also understand the care with which both institutions are continuing the dialogue, planning, and cooperation that can ensure a successful merger, if such an action is taken.”

Pierce Law leadership is optimistic that all entities will approve the affiliation and the name of the school will change to University of New Hampshire School of Law near the start of the new semester.
