It was a BAD week for firing law profs, after a judge in Charleston, S.C. granted a temporary restraining order that prevents Charleston School of Law from firing a tenured law professor.
Nancy Zisk, who was one of seven faculty members terminated by the embattled law school in late May, was able to show irreparable harm and a likelihood of success at trial.
The complaint said the school declared “a state of financial exigency due to continuing reductions in student enrollment” and it said the school cited the faculty members’ high salaries as a reason for termination.
The plaintiffs claim the owners have not proved the school is in a financial exigency, or state of emergency.
