Prominent law firms ask law school deans to mitigate antisemitism on their campuses

Some of the nation’s largest law firms have joined forces to draft a letter to law school deans in support of Israel and the Jewish community.

The Israel-Hamas war, which started at the beginning of October, has polarized some campuses, leading to protests on both sides and hatred towards the Jewish community.

In the letter, the law firms encouraged deans to condemn any kind of harassment or protests that happen concerning this matter. Some of the 40 large law firms that have signed this letter include Skadden, Kirkland & Ellis, Weiss, Rifkind, and Wharton & Garrison, the ABA Journal reported. In addition to this, prominent law firms have rescinded job offers to law students because of their outspoken opinions against Israel.

The letter states: “As employers who recruit from each of your law schools, we look to you to ensure your students who hope to join our firms after graduation are prepared to be an active part of workplace communities that have zero-tolerance policies for any form of discrimination or harassment, much less the kind that has been taking place on some law school campuses. There is no room for anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, racism or any other form of violence, hatred or bigotry on your campuses, in our workplaces or our communities.”

In addition to many large law firms, the American Bar Association also condemns the actions of Hamas against Israel.
