A GOOD Week for…
Small victories, after the Rutgers board of regents announced that current Rutgers-Camden law students will graduate with the Rutgers name on their diploma even if the school merges into Rowan University. A state committee has recommended the merger of the two state universities. Students and faculty are very opposed to losing their affiliation with Rutgers. Â
Ending a protest quietly, after University of Idaho held a program on professionalism and diversity without a hitch or grumble. When it had been announced a few weeks prior, some law students were upset that it was mandatory, feeling it was an act of political correctness. They contacted state lawmakers, which led to a letter to the dean from 21 lawmakers expressing their displeasure. Dean Donald Burnett replied with details about the program and said an ABA site team had suggested action.
Impartiality, after Roger Skalbeck, the associate law librarian at Georgetown University Law Center, ranked his school 157th out of 200 law school websites. His study used objective criteria to weight sites for design, accessibility and marketing. The University of Washington ranked first, followed by Arizona State, Florida Coastal, University of New Mexico, Wake Forest and University of Texas.
