Touro Law to offer hybrid program at Times Square location

Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center will be offering a JD program in New York City. The American Bar Association and New York State Education Department recently approved the school’s FlexTime program to be located at the university’s new Cross River Campus in New York City. The campus opened in April in Times Square.

Elena Langan, Dean at Touro law, describes the program as “uniquely tailored combinations of online and in-person instructional components.”

Touro has offered the FlexTime program at its Central Islip campus since 2018. Central Islip is 45 miles east of Manhattan in central Long Island. Touro created the FlexTime program for students who have employment or family obligations which prevent them from attending classes each day. The New York City program offers onsite classes on Sundays only with all other work done at their own pace and independently during the week. Touro University was founded to cater to Jewish students.

The program will offer law students the lowest attendance requirement of any law program in the state of New York. Beyond New York, the FlexTime program is the only accredited law degree program that offers in-person classes exclusively on Sundays. In this program, students can earn their juris doctorate in only four years and sit for the New York State Bar Exam.

Being part of a hybrid law program still leaves room for events and opportunities that occur within a traditional law program. This includes many things such as clinics, honor societies, pro bono activities, and student organizations.

The first class of students to start this program at Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center will be in August 2024 with applications currently being accepted.
