The University of Tennessee College of Law is launching an LL.M. in United States business law. The program is designed to enhance the ability of internationally trained lawyers to practice in a global marketplace by providing specialized knowledge in US business law.
International lawyers with a juris doctor or its foreign equivalent will be able to complete the full-time, 24-credit LLM program in one academic year. Graduates will be eligible to sit for the Tennessee and New York bar exams, provided they satisfy each bar’s requirements.
“We’re excited to welcome talented lawyers from around the world to UT Law, where they will gain new knowledge in the classroom and practical field experience outside the classroom,” said Melanie D. Wilson, dean of the College of Law.
The University of Tennessee offers specialized curriculum in transactional law and has trained business lawyers in the college’s Clayton Center for Entrepreneurial Law.
“Our LLM program builds on UT Law’s twenty-five years of teaching excellence in our concentration in business transactions,” said George Kuney, director of the Clayton Center. “The program will also offer students an invaluable immersion experience in American culture and dialogue here in the city of Knoxville, an incredibly affordable location to pursue higher education.”
The deadline to apply for fall 2016 admission is May 30, 2016.
