Professor Douglas K. Bischoff has assumed the role of associate dean for the Adjunct Faculty at the University of Miami Law School.
“This is a way of enhancing our appreciation and the effectiveness of our adjunct professors,” Bischoff said. “These are very busy, in-demand people. We want to be a resource for them.”
Bischoff, a real estate attorney with over 30 years of legal experience, has worked as an adjunct professor at UM Law since 1983 and has directed the nationally recognized Graduate Program in Real Property Development since 1999.
Dean Patricia D. White said Bischoff is uniquely qualified to work on behalf of the adjunct faculty.
“It is important to have someone like Dough Bischoff, who is himself an extraordinary lawyer and long-time member of the Miami legal community, to help us do all that we can to integrate the adjunct faculty.”
- University of Miami’s Health and Elder Law Clinic wins praise
The University of Miami Law School’s Health and Elder Clinic received the prestigious Clinical Legal Education Association’s Award for Excellence in a Public Interest Case of Project after their work with the Haitian Temporary Protected Status (TPS) Process.
TPS allows Haitians who resided in the United States prior to the earthquake to remain in the country legally. The Clinic was recognized for their work in making TPS applications more accessible and established a historic TPS Project alternative spring break program. In addition, the Clinic developed a comprehensive TPS training and processing model that may be universally deployed at any legal service institution or law school clinic.
The award will be formally presented at the Association of American Law School Clinical Legal Education Section’s national business meeting in May.
