Vanderbilt Law receives $10M gift to expand scholarships, childcare and student support

Vanderbilt University Law School has received a $10 million commitment from alumni Lara and Clay Travis to support building renovations and student-focused priorities, including merit- and need-based scholarship aid, childcare funding for student-parents, support services for student veterans and expanded opportunities through the school’s First Amendment Clinic and “Respectfully Dissent” debate series.

The gift is intended to expand access to a Vanderbilt legal education, support students with caregiving responsibilities, strengthen resources for veterans and promote civil discourse and First Amendment protections through academic and experiential programming.

“We had an amazing experience at Vanderbilt Law School and believe deeply in the transformative power of a Vanderbilt legal education,” the Travis Family said. “We want to enable students from all backgrounds to enjoy this same experience, and we want to support the Law School’s commitment to civil debate and discourse and to educating lawyers who respect the rule of law and are committed to providing legal representation to all.”
